Unfeeling--Unflinching--Unfinished--Unsaid

I almost thought I couldn't get to post out before Thursday officially ended. But it has been a busy day, and at least I have six minutes until Friday.

My good heavens, it feels like there is just so much to talk about today. So let’s get started.

First of all, a big thank you to whomever decided it was about time that Alberta got new license plates. As of right now, nothing in terms of design have been decided. The government is just fishing around to see if Albertans are open to the idea of a new and improved license plate. I for one am so ready for a change.

The current plates have been around for 25 years, and definitely look it. Hello, 1983 called and they want their font back. (However, 1998 called and they want their insult back.) And the motto “Wild Rose Country”, well, it’s a little worn. (I have lived in Alberta my whole life and have only seen a handful of wild roses, ever)

I had a discussion about this with Jenny this morning. And it could have been because we were having this conversation at 8:30 this morning, but she didn’t seem overly impressed with the idea of changing, and in fact actually likes the “Wild Rose Country” motto. But then again, maybe I care a little too much about a small piece of metal attached to my car.

Here’s hoping the new license plates at least try and match the coolness of Manitoba or The Northwest Territories.

Send your ideas to the government here!

The other news comes from my TV boyfriend (maybe just wishing a bit he was my real boyfriend.)George Stroumboulopoulos. His show, The Hour, is the greatest thing on CBC today. Rivaling, Hockey Night in Canada, The National and even Pit Pony.

CBC really has had it moments for me in the past, like before Casey and Finnegan decided to leave Mr. Dressup’s tree house, and before any of us questioned why a giant was hanging out with a orange and purple giraffe and a chicken in a bag, anything that was ‘Fit for the Pit’ from Streetcents, and countess games of Reach for the Pop and Matchmaker 2000 that Jono gave us.

But I think The Hour has headed to the top of that list. How could you not love a man that has seventeen letters in his last name?

On last night’s show, George made the greatest suggestion ever. He suggested that in an effort to get great music into the world, we all should make a good old mixed CD. Not full of songs that we could just hear on the radio, but songs that mean something to us, that break our heart, make us want to celebrate, or just plain feel good about life again.

After we gather up our CD, we are just suppose to leave it somewhere, a bus stop, at the mall, anywhere, just for someone to pick up and enjoy some new music.

Don’t you love this idea? I know that me and Jenny sure did. We were planning on making our yearly CD for each other anyways, so why not just burn an extra copy for the cosmos to take care of?

And you wonder why we all love George so much.

In more personal news, I have been spending my evenings making more posters for yet another YSA activity. This could be the death of me.

Never one who really succeeded with poser paper, and never learning how to draw amazing bubble letters, I have resigned my posters to whatever will fit on a normal 81/2 x 11 sheet. Figuring my graphic design was much better than me with scads of Mr. Sketch markers. However, I have recently come under scrutiny as my computer designed posters aren’t “flashy” enough for some of my committee.

So armed with makers and poster paper, I have been trying to come up with something both flashy, and classy. (And realizing it is a lot harder than I ever imagined.)

But hopefully after this, I can take a break from my publicity duties.

Alright, here's hoping you had a good day. Thanks for the fun night.

Talk to you all again tomorrow. So looking forward to Friday!
