With the Summer Weekend Fun Program in full swing, this weekend we went to Thunder in the Valley in the Crowsnest Pass.
We loaded up Sarah's truck, and my beautiful...rented Jeep and went to pick up the gang. Trevor was wanting to take his quad so we spent quite a long time trying to get it going and loaded into the truck. Finally after a lot of messing around, we go on the road for our great road trip.
After a great drive with hot boys, wonderful girls and of course my amazing ipod, we stopped at this sketchy, sketchy gas station with a million bikers outside for some unknown reason. The bathrooms inside were such a disgrace. I think I got some horrible disease from just looking at the bathrooms let alone using them!
We headed down the road, to 7-11 and made an abrupt stop for...meat. Apparently Trevor had a craving for meat. So after we waited for him to get his hotdog, it was only a couple more minutes to our camp.
When we got to the "cabin", we were greeted with a whole tent city. The "lawn" of the "cabin" was full of one/two man tents. We had giant six man and eight man tents, we went to set them up on the "boulevard" or "parking lot" as I like to call it. It was so super windy that it took about 8 of us to hold everything down so that we could get our tents up. After a huge struggle, we got everything set up and we sat around thinking of things to do now.
We all piled into the Jeep and made our way into town. After a lot of indecisiveness and a bit of yelling on my part, and a trip back to the camp, we got into town, found our perfect parking spot and made our way down the the field to get everything set up to watch the fireworks.
There we so many people there! Everywhere we went we were running into some that we knew. After a long while and the sun to go down, and for people to find all of their missing children! (You should hold onto your kids better.) The fireworks began. What an amazing show. Half an hour of some of the best fireworks I have ever seen. They really did a good job getting set up.
After the fireworks were over we dodged and weaved and made good time getting back to the car, and after some wondrous driving on my part (others would disagree.) we ending up getting back to camp first!
We started the process of getting everyone ready for bed, and after a few snacks and some lame jokes. We all snuggled into our various beds...the girls in one tent, Trevor in his own and Cody in the Jeep. We awoke early the next morning, to pancakes (I fed mine to the dog) and then a quick clean up so that we could get back to town for church.
We got home just in time! We were exhausted and only jokes about Korihorse and Pea Soup could keep us awake. After church, and Jesse "dealing" with my Trevor problem, we head home for a long nap.
I think we are finally catching up on our sleep. Hopefully next weekend is quiet and low key, but some how I doubt that.
