I'm Gonna Inject Your Soul With Some Sweet Rock 'n Roll

I realized that I (along with my roommates) listen to the same songs over and over on the ipod. Sometimes a new song gets added to the loop. But for the most part it is probably the same 50 songs. So I turned on the play count to see what our top 10 songs were. Here is the list.
Top Ten
1.
Night Drive
Jimmy Eat World
92

(Do you think this could be our all time favourite song? 92 times!?! This is the song that road trips are made of. Whether it be to Great Falls or Coaldale, this is our favourite sing along song.)

2.
Hey There Delilah
Plain White Tees
89
(One to listen to when days are grey. Thanks to Brent for showing me this song. Everyone loves it now! What would we do without you! )

3.
I Will
The Beatles
81
(How could The Beatles not be part of the Top Ten! This is such a simple beautiful song that it just leaves you with a wonderful feeling. Check it out. I think you will agree.)

4.
If Only
Goldfinger
77
("If I woke up with all these things, would it even change your feelings. None of that is even me.")

5.
Middle of Nowhere
Hot Hot Heat
64
(I went through a long Hot Hot Heat phase shortly after I got my ipod. It reminds me of last summer. Long drives and rainy nights.)

6.
If You Don't, Don't
Jimmy Eat World
62
(The first time I actually heard this song, my brother's band was doing a cover of it. So it alway reminds me of my brother...sorry, that sounds creepy.)

7.
Red Dress
Motion City Soundtrack
52
(This is the song that blew my speakers. Play it loud, Play it long! Actually I wasn't really a fan of it. But Eric loved it, so I think about him when I listen to it. Eric says, "It is probably the best song on the whole CD.")

8.
Be My Escape
Reliant K
49
(My best friend in High School loved Reliant K. I never really got it until about a year ago. I only wish I would have listened back then.)

9.
I've Got A Feeling
The Beatles
41
(Oh! Yes. One of the best Beatles songs of all time. "How come nobody told me all I was a looking for was someone that looked like you.")

10.
Stewball
Peter, Paul and Mary
39
(Peter, Paul and Mary. My parents really liked them in the early '80s. This song reminds me of my dad.)

Honourable Mention

In The Shadows --The Rasmus
(Ashley Smith loves this song. Especially when we are going to a dance, or ward counsel. It gets us pumped up!)

Mary Ellen Carter--Stan Rogers
(It is a song about a sunken boat. Sounds lame, but it is a good song.)

Crazy in Love --Beyonce
(If you want a good song to dance to in the car, you have just found it.)

Don't Let Me Be Lonely Tonight --James Taylor
(I am some what surprised that there isn't a James Taylor song in the Top Ten!)

Stand By Me, Yeah--Sloan
(I love the drums at the beginning of this song!)

Stuck in a Moment--U2
(It made so much sense when I really was Stuck in a Moment.)

I Really Am Learning to Like Shrimp. (Olives are another story.)

When the movie Titanic came out, my older brother and I could not believe how crazy people were going over everything from Leonardo Dicaprio to that annoying Celine Dion song. So me and my brother refused to watch the movie.

Being a girl, it was somewhat difficult to run away from the movie, especially when it came out on video. Everywhere I went, they wanted to watch Titanic.

Eventually when I watched the movie years later, I realized how correct me and my brother were to avoid watching the most annoying movie ever!

(Sorry if you like Titanic. Maybe you don't mind screaming and water, and then more water and screaming. I found it highly annoying....plus I really didn't believe the love story, so yah.)

I somewhat did the same thing with Harry Potter. I wasn't avoiding it at all costs. I just didn't go out of my way to read a book about wizards. Call me unimaginative, call me boring, or lame. I don't care.

But the other day, I decided to watch the movies. (Not quite as committing as the books.) I give the movies a thumbs sideways. Although, it isn't something that I can just put on and go about my normal activities. It is not a very good multitasking movie. It takes a lot of focus because there are so many characters and foreign concepts.

Maybe I am crazy. Maybe I need to think about my motives. I mean not doing things, who is that really hurting...no one else really cares if you don't watch a movie, or read a book. But then again, no one really cares if you do anything either.

Kiss Me! I'm Not Irish!

So, Happy St. Patrick Day!

Did you all wear green? (I don't even really own anything green.) Did you even remember?( It just seemed like March, 17 to me)

So again, a Catholic holiday, that isn't a holiday. If only I was Catholic, maybe I would care more.

Saint Patrick was the person who supposedly removed all of the snakes from Ireland. First of all, how do we know he got all the snakes? Are there still no snakes in Ireland? And do I really care if there are snakes there or not. Not really. I don't even care if there are snakes in Canada, they don't really bother me in my day to day life.

Secondly, what is with the colour green. I understand it is in the Irish flag, but if I am not Irish, do I really care?

Thirdly, can someone please explain Leprechauns to me? They seem a little more scary than anything! Do you really think they would give you their gold if you found them?

Maybe green beer is fun. Maybe it is fun to wear something that says "Kiss me! I'm Irish."

Maybe I just don't get this whole St. Patrick's Day? Maybe next year will be better.

What Can I Do, When It's True

Okay, so maybe I am dying. (Probably not though, don't get worried)

Despite having a cold, I also have such a backache. (Uhmm...thanks Denise for sharing the most personal moments of your life with us.)

I know, that isn't a big deal, however, everyone else in my house seems to have this backache as well. Smith has contributed it to our chairs for our table. I on the other hand have decided to self diagnose us. We either have Viral Meningitis or Fibromyalgia (takeyour pick.)

I know that some of you know the story of the self diagnosis, but for those that don't, read on.

Almost two years ago (hard to believe it was that long) I really wasn't feeling well. I had just moved out of my grandparents house, and now was living at the 727 house.

However, I was so super run down. It didn't matter what I did, or how much sleep I got, I was so tired. I had no desire to do anything but sleep. My poor new roommates thought I was nuts because I never wanted to do anything with them.

This problem lasted a while, maybe a month, with everyone in my life asking me to go to the doctor. But I decided to self diagnose myself. And the answer it came up with was leukemia.

I checked out all I could about leukemia and sure enough I had all the symptoms. So I sat my family and my roommates down to tell them my sad findings. And when I told them, they just laughed at me! No one could believe that I had leukemia! So to prove them wrong, I went to the doctor.

When the doctor came in to see me, and asked me what was wrong, I dramatically told him I had leukemia. With the straightest face that he could, he told me that no one would know for sure what I had until we did a blood test, that would take 3 days to process. So I waited the three days, and went back to the doctor ready to face my life of chemotherapy and no hair. (I had decided that if I went bald, I wasn't going to wear a wig.)

My doctor met me in the little room, and asked me again what was wrong with me. I was shocked that he couldn't remember! If one of your patients had leukemia, wouldn't you remember and try and get them to the hospital right away? So I explained to him how I had leukemia. And my doctor started laughing. Seriously. Hard Laughing. I thought he might fall over. And then he proceeded to tell me that I was anemic, iron deficient. That was all.

About six months later, I wasn't feeling well again. This time it was the worst stomach pain ever. Every time I ate it felt like someone was squeezing my stomach. I became so afraid to eat, because I didn't want that pain. So I went weeks without eating. So I decided to try and self diagnose myself again.

However this time I kept my answer quiet. However I had found that I had an ulcer. So back I went to my doctor, who probably thought I was crazy. And when he asked me what was wrong, I kept my findings to myself. After a bit of questioning and prodding. He announced I had an ulcer. I was right! I knew it all along!

1 out of 2 that isn't that bad. So I guess I won't give up self diagnosis just yet.

Alright, well don't worry about me. I am pretty sure I won't die in the next little while, and hopefully I will fell better soon.

Love you all very much.

I Don't Have An Answer. Maybe You Do.

Nothing like an 8 am blog to cleanse the soul.

How is everyone this morning?

I noticed something not long ago. And it probably isn't a big deal to the rest of you, but it somewhat bothers me.

Alright, my generation is very much in trouble. We still have NO idea what we are going to call this decade. Whether it is the 2000's or the 00's, no one knows. Like when they make a compilation CD it will be called..."Hits of the 00's"? (Which no doubt will have the Black Eyed Peas on it. I feel they will be the defining music of my generation. Which I am very disturbed about....Apologies if you happen to think they are cool. They aren't. But I am sorry regardless.)

The new car registration for 2007 is out. And on the sticker you put on your license plate, just says 07. However all of them from 2000-2006 are written out completely. Who decided that 2007 was the year that we only wrote two numbers? And why 2007? Doesn't that seem like kinda a random year?

We really need to figure out these years. When are we going to start saying 07 instead of 2007? You can't really just say Jan 15/14. Besides that looks stupid too. What did they do at the turn of the 1900's?

Baby You Can Drive My Car!

Monumental moment!

On Sunday night, my car odometer flipped to 200,000 kms! It was super exciting!

Me and Flick were on our way to Sarah, Elizabeth, Ginger's house and it flipped on the corner of 9th Ave And Mayor Magrath Drive.

I really do love my car so much. It has been so good for the almost 5 years I have owned it.

Do you want to hear the story of my car? Oh well, you get to anyways.

I came to Lethbridge with my family on September 8, 2001 to look for a car. We searched high and low, every dealership, little town and old lady within a 50km radius for the perfect car.

Finally, after a long day of searching we finally rolled into the Saturn Dealership. And after looking all the cars on the lot, the last one on the row looked like the perfect car.

1992 Mercury Topaz, Light Brown.---Beautiful.

The price was right, as was the kms. But after our long search the dealership was closed. So first thing on Monday morning, September 10, 2001, I called about the car to get more information. My parents thought it sounded like a good deal, so my mom drove back to Lethbridge to test drive it and hopefully buy it for me. After a long day at work, my mom called me to tell me that it really was a good car, and that she had bought it and that we could pick it up the next day.

The next day, September 11, 2001, I woke up to the most horrific sight ever. All thought of picking up my new car suddenly seem irrelevant. However, my mom said that we couldn't let something like this stop us from getting the car, so during my lunch hour, I registered and insured my car. (My insurance is still always due on September 11, and when the guy at the insurance placed asked me what colour the car was, I said, " light brown." He said,"Oh that sounds boring, lets call it Champange." ) with TV's and radios in the background of all the offices I visited.

So after work, my mom, my older brother and I went to pick up my new car. When we got to the dealership, the people were really nice. The had us wait while they brought my car into the showroom. We sat and watched the news with the mechanics from the dealership. It broke my heart because here were grown men crying over the days events. Heart wrenching.

They pulled my car into the show room, and showed me all the features, and tried to make it very exciting. However there was a damper feeling that none of us could shake. They handed me my keys, and in a very commercial, cheesy way, said, "Congratulations On Your New Car!" And then I was able to drive it out of the dealership. I've been in love ever since.

I honestly, sincerely believe that because I bought it on September 11th, it has to be a good car. Nothing too major (knock on wood) has happen to it. Minus a new battery, and one unfortunate accident, it really has been a good car, five years and going.

Delivering Just What You Need

Satellite Radio is one of the best things invented. (well right behind precooked bacon, and fruit roll ups.)

Our Trailblazer at work has Satellite Radio, and so whenever I am able, I always drive that SUV.You can listen to things all over the world, and all sorts of music. It really is for everyone.

You can find out the traffic report in Chicago, listen to Bluegrass music, or comedians, or old hockey games or Hits of the 1940s. It can be all talk or all music. Really, these Satellite Radio should put me on commercial, or give me one free for talking up their product.

My two favourite channels are Hits of the 1990s and Take 5. Well, hits of the 1990s...it seems self explanatory, good memory music. And Take 5 is all talk radio. Just a bunch of girls sitting around in Washington DC, talking about all kinds of topics. Today they were talking about Prom Dresses. It is just story hour all day, with a bunch of laughing in between.

I really need to have a radio show! If the prerequisite is just talking and telling stories, my life is a radio show already!

I'm going to the dance tonight, and some what excited (for lack of a better word) for it. I really dislike dancing, but I am excited to see everyone and talk to them.

When I was driving back from the airport (in the Trailblazer, of course. Listening to Hits of the 90s) they played my ultimate dance song. There is always a couple of songs that get people dancing. And I think this is the one that always gets the most people going. Super nostalgic.

Ice Ice Baby--Vanilla Ice

They should let me DJ dances. I promise no Beatles (you can't dance to them anyways)

Vanilla Ice, and I think Kissed By a Rose.

(This is a Stake Dance song from way back. It wasn't truly a Stake Dance without this song. We requested this song at the Prom, as a funny joke...well a joke only the Mormons would get.)

Happy Friday! Have a great weekend. Don't take any wooden nickels.
