So, Happy St. Patrick Day!
Did you all wear green? (I don't even really own anything green.) Did you even remember?( It just seemed like March, 17 to me)
So again, a Catholic holiday, that isn't a holiday. If only I was Catholic, maybe I would care more.
Saint Patrick was the person who supposedly removed all of the snakes from Ireland. First of all, how do we know he got all the snakes? Are there still no snakes in Ireland? And do I really care if there are snakes there or not. Not really. I don't even care if there are snakes in Canada, they don't really bother me in my day to day life.
Secondly, what is with the colour green. I understand it is in the Irish flag, but if I am not Irish, do I really care?
Thirdly, can someone please explain Leprechauns to me? They seem a little more scary than anything! Do you really think they would give you their gold if you found them?
Maybe green beer is fun. Maybe it is fun to wear something that says "Kiss me! I'm Irish."
Maybe I just don't get this whole St. Patrick's Day? Maybe next year will be better.

How did the Irish get St. Patrick's Day in Canada anyways? Nobody here knows about wearing orange on Koninginedag! That's a Dutch holiday when everyone wears orange. But even I don't know when it is..
Let me know when you cool Dutch day is and I will totally wear orange!
Denise how can you be down on a holiday that encourages unity and merriness and much kissing?!
ps we celebrate it on the death of st patrick to remember him, he was a good man.... and did you know canada has a patron saint as well?! i can't remember who saint franco or something like that, and f name i think!
Anyway it all started in Canada because of the immigrants from the colonies and the USA, there were many Irish immigrants who landed in Boston and they kept their traditions and the rest of us decided we would like to join in as well! I mean the irish are freaking cool, we all know this!
ps leprauchans they lead you to a pot of gold if you can follow them, they are actually great luck! count yourself lucky if you see one of those "creepy little men"
Yeah, St. Patrick actually rid Ireland of "snakes" who were really those who didn't believe in God, so he rid them of their paganism. He was also their slave first and then went back to preach to them after he escaped.
Have you never seen "Darby O'Gill and the Little People"??? SO good.
