Thanks Tommy Douglas!

For the second year in a row, I got a flu shot. Along with a strange mix of young and old, I waited in line to become vaccinated yet again.

I don't know if I have ever had the flu, I think I had it a last year, and I will tell you that it was no fun. I literally did not get off the couch for a whole week. (Well, besides this odd night.) So I guess 'A Poke In The Arm Is Better Than A Week In Bed'...I can't take credit for that, this was the title of a super lame newspaper article encouraging people to get flu shots.

I am going to attribute it to my blood donating, but I am no longer afraid of needles. I remember squeezing my friend's hand almost off when we got shots in Grade 9, and I spent a whole summer trying to avoid the public health nurse at the hospital I worked at who was trying to convince me that I needed a meningitis vaccine.

There is something strangely satisfying about overcoming your fears. It is probably time that I give the dump another try, or even watch Michael Jackson's Thriller video all the way through. So today, why don't you look one of your fears right in the eye, it might just change your life.

Oh, and maybe think about getting a flu shot too.
