One More Look Back

Hey! Guess what this is?

If you said it was the first post of 2010, you are only half right. If you said this was my 500th post, congrats! You should win some sort of prize.

It is more than funny to believe that when I started this blog in the laundry room of a decrepit house, sharing a computer with 7 other girls, that it would grow to this size. Thanks for reading. A blog is only as good as it's readers!

So let's talk a little bit about this new year that we are now in. A few weeks ago, while immersed in my hobby of random blog reading, I found a girl who sold fantastic calendars. The price was right, the shipping free, and so I decided to pick up this handmade creation. My calendar arrived a few days before Christmas and was even better than the pictures I saw on the internet.

My favourite picture is January, and it has become my new motto of the this new year.

Yes...2010 is going to be my year. Come hell or high water. I am excited and just hoping I carry this new plan through all the way to next December. (Keep more than your fingers crossed.)

So before 2010 can officially begin, let's say one last goodbye to 2009 with a funny questionnaire that I did last year.

1. Did you keep your New Year’s Resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I did make New Year’s Resolutions, but gave them up only a few weeks later. This year I’m not making any concrete resolutions. I’m just having faith that 2010 will be better than 2009. (It shouldn’t be that hard.)

2. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Actually, yes! I got a brand new niece in April and love her to bits!

3. Did anyone close to you die?
Oh. Yes. Sad. Unexpected. (I miss you!)

4. What countries did you visit?
I only really went to Utah this year, although I did spend about a week discovering the west half of Alberta with my parents.

5. What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?

Anything. Everything. I can honestly say I lacked EVERYTHING in 2009.

6. What dates from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

The only really good date that is etched in my memory is April 8th. The day I got to meet my Carmen.

7. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Starting a novel. It has been an idea I have been thinking about for a long time, I’m just glad I got a few words down on paper.

8. What was your biggest failure?
Becoming another Recession statistic.

9. Did you suffer illness or injury?
How could we forget how sick I was for Sweethearts!

10. What was the best thing someone bought you?
Probably the newly re-mastered Beatles CDs.

11. Where did most of your money go?
Keeping our lights on and a roof over my head.

12. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
I guess little things like my Fascinating Girl experiment, or NaNoWriMo.

13. What song will always remind you of 2009?

Heart Of Life—John Mayer

14. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? About the same.
b) fatter or skinner? Let’s not measure, but probably the first.
c) richer or poorer? Definitely poorer.

15. What do you wish you’d done more of?
Speaking my mind. (But then again, where would that really get me?)

16. What do you wish you’d done less of?
Procrastinating. Sleeping in.

17. Did you fall in love in 2009?

No. (Strange, don’t you think?)

18. What was your favourite TV program?
Mad Men

19. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?

No. Who would I ever hate?

20. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Okay. Listen. I’ll explain later, but the Jonas Brothers. (Please don’t judge me.)

21. What was your favourite film of this year?

500 Days Of Summer

22. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
28. We had a large party complete with hotdogs. (Check out what I did on my 27th birthday too.)

23. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

Peace of mind.

24. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?

Fascinating Girl

25. What kept you sane?
Two of the Three Musketeers

26. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Zac Efron!

27. Who do you miss?

Leita. I would guess that not one week has gone by since she left us that I haven’t thought about, and then ultimately missed her.

28. Who was the best new person you met?
Brent Meacham. (Sorry to embarrass you.) Kindest person I have ever met! Seriously!

29. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009?

As bad as my life sometimes felt this year, I always had so many people cheering me on.

Thanks to all of you. Here's hoping that your 2010 is just as awesome as you hope it to be. You can borrow my motto...This Is Going To Be Your Year!

With all sorts of love.

As Always,

Just thought I'd let you know that I do read your blog and I do enjoy it. I don't always take time to comment, but I do love to keep up with what you're doing. I'm excited for your novel and I think this really is going to be your year. Love, Aunt Gayle
