So for you all today I thought I would take you through the past decade of my life, the highs and even the lows, year by year. Enjoy.
2000—Rang in the New Year and new Millennium playing Uno with the two oldest ladies in my family ward. Wrote colourful letters to South Africa. Ate waffles every Saturday night. Rode the city bus. Talk too much at school and not at all at church.
2001—Welcomed home my skinny brother. Threw up at a gas station. Became a college alumnus. Got an adult job. Realized a changed world. Bought a new to me car.
2002—Lost a job I never really understood. Worked for the mayor beside the train tracks. Started university. Moved back into the hot house. Rejoined Victoria Park. Changed FHE groups for a boy, but ended up finding a dear friend.
2003—Learned Latin. Gave amazing tours at a museum. (We only made up some of the town facts we told you.) Herded 14-year old girls at EFY. Lost not only my mind, but also my soul at university.
2004—Had my family follow me to Lethbridge. Moved into a house with 8 girls and 2 bathrooms. Found some really great guys to hang out with. Went to Preference, but didn’t dance. Lost a job working for dishonest people, was more relived than sad.
2005—Tried, but failed to become a brunette. Started renting cars. Tried to make things work with a boy named Carson. (Not Carson Daly!) Went on a bunch of dates as determined by a box. Started blogging. Found the best hot chocolate in the city.
2006—Lived with three Ashley/Ashlees. Got dumped at Tim Hortons. Won Miss Victoria Park. Lost a grandpa, but gained a sister-in-law. Started a professional job. Got dumped via text message. Began summarizing the year with music.
2007—Became a real brunette. Won the house in the divorce. Head hunted a new roommate. Found a friend through a broken ankle. Took an awesome Conference road trip. Began Weekday Eves. Started taste testing apples. Became part of the Fantastic Four.
2008—Fell in love with a cute puppy. Got an internet boyfriend. Learned about Peter Katz. Moved into a funny apartment. Said goodbye to a Dominican missionary. Met a General Authority. Started reading Gone With The Wind. ‘Paused for thought.’ Watched a lot of hockey.
Even though some days it really doesn't feel like it, I have accomplished quite a bit in a short time.
Here's hoping for even more adventures in the next decade!
As Always,
