Well, a happy Thursday to one and all. When did it become the end of the week already? So close to a long weekend, I am excited.
Also, when did it become the end of August, and subsequently the end of summer? Not that I am overly complaining. As I drove to work this morning, I realized the leaves have started to change, and that fall is soon upon us. Just holding my breath that autumn gives us a lot more than summer ever could.
Well, you predicted I would make some disparaging remarks on here about our viewing of Heroes last night. So, as to not disappoint, here is my review.
Thank goodness for TV DVD box sets. Not having a real TV nor cable until earlier this summer, I really fell out of regularly tuning in to specific TV shows. But with the nature of TV Dramas these days, you don’t have time to be overly haphazard in your viewing.
Shows such as 24, Lost and now Heroes require dedication in viewing. If you miss one week, it is all over. That is a lot of pressure. And I don’t know that I want to dedicate myself so much to just a TV show. But thankfully with the DVD’s, I am free to enjoy such a complex story on my own time.
I am impressed with the intricacy of the show in general, special effect, stunts, a plethora of characters and locations; it is more like a movie rather than a TV show. It makes me wonder how new TV shows will outdo each other in this bigger and better world in which we live now.
But it also makes me miss simplicity. Example as recorded below:
Yet another story about Disneyland. (Remember when my blog entries use to be short and simple? Sorry.)
There aren’t a lot of original rides life at Disneyland. And the ones that are original have been revamped for our thrill seeking lifestyle.
On one of my last visits to Disneyland they were closing yet another original ride, ‘Mission to Mars’. Ah, Mission to Mars. My family decided to join the short line to this historic ride.
Once inside, we sat in hard plastic, dentist-esque looking chairs. We were instructed to fasten our seatbelts, as we would be taking off soon. After an overly dramatic speech warning us of the dangers of Mars, and a slow countdown, we finally made our way to Mars. Our dentist chairs slowly rose up, until finally we reached Mars.
After more horrible acting and another speech, we ran into trouble on Mars and our chairs started to shake and lights flash. Don’t worry, we got it all sorted out and decided to head home, so our chairs made a slow decent back to the ground. And the ride was over, much sooner than it began.
What a hilarious ride it was! And my only regret is that I didn’t take more opportunities to journey to Mars while I still could. Sometimes, just sometimes, less is more.
But regardless, I did enjoy the show. When are we watching more?
Here’s to:
Impending doom. Feeling a bit better about it today, but everyone still stay safe and have your wits about you. Please.
A long weekend with no definitive plans or responsibilities. Wherever the wind takes us.
The Bridge season finale. Looking forward to season two.
A renewed hope. Feeling pretty good about the current state of affairs.
Good Luck and God Speed.
