Anyways, I'm here, I'm now, I'm ready. Let's talk.
It was only driving home today that I realized I am happy. For the first time in a long time. Maybe it is the fact that February is more than half over and spring is around the corner, or that maybe my life is starting to FINALLY look up. But I have come up with some reasons I am happy.
- Dress pants. I have come to the realization that it is a lot harder to look like hobo than it is to look good. Maybe it is due to the fact that I own way too many dress pants and not enough hoodies. In fact, in the ten days that I have been in the working world, I haven't even gone through all of the dress pants I have. Yes, I have that many. For a whole year a chorus of black, gray and brown wool pants would mock me from my closet, waiting patiently for the day they would get to be worn. Short of a fantastic skirt and a great pair of tights, nothing makes me feel quite like an adult the way that dress pants do.
- A well needed hair cut. I LOVE getting my hair cut. Although sadly it is an expensive hobby. So with a shortage of funds, I have had to try and make my straggly hair work. Not only has a new hair cut put some bounce back in my hair, but also a bounce in my step.
- The Olympics. I have been in love with the Olympics (both summer and winter) since Calgary hosted them in 1988. As a small child I felt the Olympic spirit and have excited cheered for Canada ever since. Thankfully Canada has been given another chance to host the winter Olympics and we have all been proudly waving our Canadian flags. Let's not forget our first gold medal this weekend! After a whole year of these commercials, I BELIEVE!
- Payday. It has been 13 long months without a payday for me. That is long time. But thankfully Friday not only kicked off a long weekend, but also put much needed money in my account. It has been while since that much money has belonged to me!
- Family Day! Thank you Government of Alberta for inventing a made-up holiday in the middle of February when we need it most. And a day with my family is always full of fun.
- A job I finally understand. Okay, so maybe I don't have all of the office procedures exactly down, but at least I feel like I know what I am doing, law wise. A few weeks before I started working I wondered if it had been too long to once again try and be a legal assistant, but strangely some legal switch has flipped in my mind and I have found myself asking strange questions, like "Should we be preparing a Dispute Note?" Who knew I knew what that was, or even when we should use one!
- A full tank of gas, and a clean car. It has been over 700kms since I have had a full tank of gas. For the past couple of months, I have just been put small amounts of gas into my car, just here and there when I has some money to spare. My 'Low Fuel' light remained constantly on. Now I can go anywhere the wind takes me. (But we should probably still stay in town. Let's not forget that I am still driving a car that is almost as old as you.)
As Always,

Thanks for playing Wii Olympics with me yesterday. I'm so happy that life is finally starting to make some sense for you these days. Hooray! Here's to more great things in the days to come.
I love this post! I have been worried about you and praying for you from Kenya. I am thrilled that things are going so much better for you. You've sure learned a lot about patience. I'm proud of you!
I love Canadian Family Day! Even if it is only an excuse for a day off. I must hand it to you Canadians...you've got at least one every month! Kudos! Glad to hear things are going great! I feel much of the things on your list apply to me as a poor university student. :) I really do love a full tank of gas too!!!
