Better Luck Next Year

While most of the world equates December with Christmas and the fun of the season, my mind is taken to music whenever December is mentioned.

Since 2006, my friends and I have been putting together yearly CD, soundtracks for our lives. Check out what was on past CDs: 2006, 2007, 2008

I have put most of my 2009 CD together this year and am now just spending the remainder of the month getting the song order worked out, designing a cover and burning multiple copies to give away.

So today I thought I would leave you with those songs that just didn't make the cut this year. All of them were in the running to be on my CD, but for one reason or another just didn't fit.

  • Strange, for me at least, I didn't fall in love this year. Nope. Not one time. I had a plethora of 'we're so happy in love' songs to put on, but there was no need for any of them.
You Make My Dreams Come True--Hall and Oates

You Are The Best Thing--Ray LaMontagne

  • Thankfully, because I didn't fall in love I also didn't suffer any broken hearts in 2009. This seems to usually be the the topic of most of my CDs, but not this year.
50 Ways To Leave Your Lover--Paul Simon

Complicated--Robin Thicke

  • It's true, my CDs are know for their emo-ness. Every year I really do plan on making a cheerier compilation, but somehow it never really happens. (My life isn't as bad as it sounds.) But these songs were just too sad to include, even this year.
Something Is Wrong--Phantom Planet

Hide and Seek--Imogen Heap

  • Finally, I just couldn't decide what version of this song I liked better. I would think I had decided, and then change my mind for the other one. So, because I couldn't decide, they both had to be left out of this year's mix.
Hazy Shade Of Winter--Simon and Garfunkel

Hazy Shade Of Winter--The Bangles

I'll be posting what actually made the cut this year towards the end of the month. It's not that bad of a CD, even if I just say so myself.

Good luck to everyone.

As Always,
