Believe The Hype

Well today, if you can believe it, is my 4th blogiversay. I really am grateful that I have kept writing so long. I love to look back and see how much things change, yet stay the same

So to celebrate this monumental occasion, how about a movie review?

Months and months ago my friends and I saw the trailer for (500) Days of Summer and excitedly waited for it to come to our local theatres. The movie was released in larger cities and many friends of ours excitedly told us we had to see the film. So we waited and waited and waited and the movie still never came. Finally after weeks of waiting the movie poster was hung with a large, 'Coming Soon' title underneath. But the movie never came. Weeks and weeks went by with the poster mocking us every time we walked by it. Finally, when I was just about to give up hope of ever seeing the movie, it FINALLY came to our mid-sized city.

Anyways, we have wanted to see (500) Day of Summer for a while now.

The movie turned out to be funny, heartbreaking, different, but most importantly, hopeful. I really think it was the first time I have really cared about a boy in a romantic comedy.

Besides, could a movie that includes this be that bad?

This movie made me want to:

Shop at Ikea
Dance at an outdoor wedding
Buy more greeting cards
Download more Hall and Oates
Punch girls who break boys' hearts
Live more in reality and less in expectations
Get on with my life

I don't know if you will like the movie, but who cares, I did.

Good luck to us all.

As Always,

Ah Denise I am SO jealous. I really want to see this movie but it never came to Lethbridge while I was there and now that I live in a "major" city, it's been and gone. :-( I'm glad you liked it - I'll just have to wait for the rental. Or maybe now that I have your good opinion (which is rare for movies) I can buy it with full confidence! Thanks for the dance scene - It made my day!

I saw that movie tonight. I LOVE IT!!! I really love the soundtrack too! Thank you for telling me to go see it. I had seen commercials for it and wasn't sure if I wanted to see it or not. I am glad I decided to see it.

Finally saw this. (I was a bad film student and watched it online) It completely lived up to expectation. Excellent.
