Good morning everyone!
I am anxiously waiting for Jenny to wake up so that I can play her our new 'Sunday Morning Psych Up Song'. Take a listen here.
Please don't tell me that it hasn't made you more excited for your day, even if you aren't listening to it on Sunday or in the morning.
Alright, so allow me, just for today, to get a little sappy. If you aren't into that kind of thing, please stop reading...now. (Go listen to the song again.)
Last night our ward had a going away party for a guy that has chosen to further his academic life in Idaho.
Since I found out about his horrible plan to leave town, I have tried, to no avail, to convince him that both our local college and university would be able to fulfill all, if not more, of his educational needs, or that with my dual citizenship, I would be willing to move anywhere within Canada or the United States he wanted to go, or that I would be willing to give up my perfectly funny hot dog wedding, in favour of shotgun nuptials.
I understand that goodbyes are nothing new in the YSA ward, that literally every week someone is moving into or out of our ward. And you would be surprised that my dear friend was only a member of our ward for a little over six months. But still his party was full of genuine love and well wishes.
In the short time that he was in our ward he truly was a friend to all and an enemy to none. He went out of his way to talk to everyone he could, to show true kindness, fulfill all of his callings, and despite not officially being named Mr. Victoria Park, helped to promote and support any FHE, activity or any other event our ward might be a part of.
I am sure that he would be embarrassed to no end of the glowing praise I have given him. But I know he will be missed dearly by the Victoria Park Ward and will undoubtedly do just as well in his new YSA home.
I am not alone in wishing him well in all the paths life takes him and that we all hope he visits us every now and again.
Isn't it funny how much inpact someone can make in your life in just a short time?
Keeping my fingers crossed. Wishing for more than luck. And knocking on my fair share of wood.
As Always,
