It feels as if Jenny and I have only seen each other for small snippets of time this week due to illness, conflicting work schedules and just activities separate and apart.
So yesterday I was more than excited when Jenny and I would finally be at home with no major plans for the evening. Finally we could catch up on all of the funny stories of the week, and fill our night with more TV on DVD.
Everything was going just as planned, when I fell asleep. About half way through the first episode of 30 Rock that we had planned to watch I just couldn’t keep my eyes open anymore. My brief nap turned into a three hour sleep! And when I finally came to consciousness, it was already 11:00pm!
After sharing some of our funny stories, we headed to bed, however, I laid in bed tossing and turning all night after sleeping so long earlier in the evening. It was well after 3:30am before I finally was able to sleep again.
I am not going to lie, but I am hardly caught up to where I am supposed to be for book club. You have probably figured out my plan to just excite our whole club tonight with the razzle dazzle of stories from my former glory, and tales of stupidity from my more resent past. I think I enjoy an audience for my chronicles more than any discussion about the book.
Yes, we are still reading ‘Gone With The Wind’ and I am finding it all kinds of difficult to be motivated to read about the sweeping South or the courageous Confederates.
For a history major, like myself, you would think I would enjoy the play by play of all of the battles and sieges that are occurring, but sadly, even my American History class, that only barely skimmed the surface of the Civil War, bored me to tears.
Stop talking about the war and get back to talking about all of the fancy dresses and outrageous barbeques. Heck, even go back to the ‘We Didn’t Date But We Sure Broke Up’ story between Ashley and Scarlett. Just stop talking about the war and the cause!
It is my hope to get more reading done while I am on holidays, but don’t hold your breath. (Maybe I should just get the book on tape?)
So much to do the rest of this week and all of next week. But holidays are only a short nine (what!?!?) days away.
Thankful for all that I have, even if that includes you.
As Always,
