I really have really been working hard all week. Pumping out a countless number of letters, staying late every night, calculating trust cheques and fielding dozens of phone calls, all from my tiny, albeit cozy office. I have all of our yearly CDs to keep me company, and a few minutes of Facebook distractions here and there, but, Oh. My. Good. Heavens, today has really crawled by. Only 19 minutes have passed since I last looked at the clock, and it is horrendous to think that there is more than an hour left until we can start thinking about going home. Hopefully the night drags on just as slow to balance it all out.
With not much in concrete stories to tell you all from last night I thought I would share all of my recent favourites. Now, I don’t know if any of these will win any all time favourite award, but it is just what I am into at the moment.
Movie: Dan In Real Life.
I have seen this movie four times in the theatre, and seriously could go even more. (And I don’t even like the movie theatre) This movie really pulls the ‘Scrubs’ punch, laughing one minute, crying the next. It has heart, and it lets you leave the theatre feeling good with hope for the future. It has been a while since other movies have achieved such a tall order.
TV: How I Met Your Mother
With the writers’ strike painfully ruining our year; it has been great to catch up on all the past seasons of some of our favourite shows. How I Met Your Mother is seriously one of the funniest things I have seen in a while. There is no episode that is even half sucky; they are all gems.
Music: Sondre Lerche/Paul Simon
I don’t really get the thrill of new music the way some of my friends do. I prefer to listen to my old standbys and familiar artists and songs. However with the plethora of new music put on my ipod not only from the ipod crash of 2007, but also from everyone’s CDs, listening to my ipod is always a new experience.
A big thanks for Dan In Real Life for introducing me to Sondre Lerche. He does all of the music in the movie, and has really helped to create the feel good atmosphere of the movie. Now I can relive the same feel good feelings no matter where me and my ipod go.
Paul Simon (Who sadly I do like better without Garfunkle) seems to have all the honest songs to play when you are not really in that feel good mood.
Food: Tzatziki
Okay, I understand that this isn’t a real food per se. But whether in our pitas or on our delicious tandoori pizza, just like the dill dip, it seems to make everything a little bit better.
I can’t think of anything else that is too new or exciting. Besides, it seems as if sufficient time has been killed trying to think up all of my favourites.
Have a good rest of the week. We are on the downhill side now.
Lots of love.
