A happy early Monday to one and all. Where did the weekend go? Seriously.
Friday started with the Relief Society Retreat...camping retreat. It was definitely not the Banff Springs Hotel retreats we went on as Laurels in Brooks, but fun none the less. Of all the weekends to go camping, we picked the rainy, cold weekend. But we had our run of the campground, ate our weight in candy and told the most horrific stories. As much as I hate girl's night, it was probably just what we all needed.
Sleeping was another issue though. For the life of me, I could not get comfortable and I proceeded to wake up every hour. Finally at 6:30 I couldn't take sleeping anymore, so I left the tent to walk around the creepy, fog filled camp ground. Breakfast was delicious and the camp as a whole, a real success. Let's just not stay in tents next time.
A little too crazy, tired and flustered for anything else, here comes another story from days gone by. Enjoy.
Maybe I am hard of hearing. Maybe people I know just talk too quietly. But I have realized I really need to learn to read lips.
A couple of year ago I was interested in this guy. We were friends, but had never really gone on any official date. One day I got a call from this guy and he said, "I was thinking we could go out on Wednesday." I was excited and said yes. He continued, "That's great! I was thinking we could go bo----ing. Does that sound good?" I don't know if my ears just stopped working or if the phone cut out but I had no idea what he said. So I agreed to whatever his plan was, not knowing what I was in for.
However, shortly after I hung up the phone I started panicking. How was I suppose to dress? What were we doing? I went through every B-O activity that I could think of, and soon narrowed it down to two ideas. Bowling or Boating. But the problem came that both of these ideas were possible as he loved to bowl, and he owned a boat. I was flustered as each activity required a different outfit. I decided to just wear my swimming suit under my outfit for bowling, just in case, and felt nervous and unprepared as he picked me up for our date.
Picking up no clues from his outfit, we first went for dinner at one of his favourite restaurants right across from the bowling alley. Our conversation during dinner was no clue either. He started the conversation by asking, "Aren't you excited for tonight? When was the last time you did anything like this?" No knowing if he was talking about bowling or boating, and answered him with, "Oh gosh, I can't even remember. It has been a while." Even though I had been bowling a few weeks earlier.
As we left the restaurant, we drove closer to the bowling alley, and then made a sharp turn towards the lake. Thankful to be wearing my swimming suit, I sighed in relief. He turned to me and asked if anything was okay. Just happy to know what was going on, I turned to him and said, "It is just the perfect night to be at the lake." He smiled and agreed. We had great time at the lake, and spent a lot more of the summer out there.
Here's to:
Long naps
Urine filled tales
Burying hatchets, and finding new axes to grind
No prior warnings or indications.
This not being my idea. I am sorry.
Catastrophe, every thing's gone,
Nothing today was agreed upon
You had no choice as you watched the curtains be drawn
