You Call It Stalking, I Prefer To Call It Research

Oh Kitties!

I think I have found a kindred spirit in the blogging world. (I need to start making more real life friends.) I thought for a minute I had stumbled into my long lost twin as I laughed at all of her humorous observations. I almost wished for a minute that I was cool enough to write a post in all lower case letters, but sadly all of my business writing classes in college taught me better.

It made me miss the kind of entries I use to write. Before I decided to cop out every post with questions stolen from Facebook. Back when I had scandalous, not so scandalous stories, when I updated more than just once a month, and this place use to be a funnier, not so down, place to hang out.

With summer soon upon us again, and a slew of new adventures sure to befall us, I figured it was time to start anew. Shake off the sadness of winter and remember how good I really do have it.

I am not sure if it was the more direct sunlight or if it was the newly greened grass and gorgeous blooming trees that have made me realize that things aren't so bad around here.

Sure, there is nothing new to report. Other than spring beginning for another year, life seems to be the exact same, spent with the same people, doing the same things. And yet I am still so grateful.

Grateful for:

The Three Musketeers, who on the outside will never be chosen for our own family based reality show, but can still have fun watching Nancy Grace.

A really funny roommate who entertains me everyday. Even if that means spending hours trying to pick out a movie to watch, or playing horrific games of MOC.

Friends, who despite not seeing as often as I probably should, still lend their support, make institute that much funner and keep me from starving to death.

My dear Eric, who despite the fact that I neglectfully forget to write almost every week,is still keeping his ever busy fingers crossed on my behalf.

An adorable niece who has all sorts of patience with me even though I have no experience with babies of any kind.

Stephen Harper for keeping me housed for yet another month.

And even an unplanned sabbatical, that I know will be over in the not too distant future.

So with only small amounts of trepidation, I quote again The Beatles.

"I've got to admit it's getting better
A little better all the time
It can't get no worse."

Keep doing what you're doing.

Stay tuned for post from all of our upcoming adventures.

"I'm Good Enough, I'm Smart Enough And Doggonit, People Like Me"

Alright. How's about a midnight post for you all.

Let's start with the only real news that I have. I have a job interview tomorrow....today....Thursday. And strangely, I'M TOTALLY FREAKING OUT! (And sadly have for most of the week.)

Thankfully by the time you all read this is should be over. But please, just for me, just this once, say a little prayer on my behalf, make a wish on a shooting star for me, toss a couple of pennies into a wishing well, and Jenny, throw a bunch of flowers into the air and make a wish on them.

But in the meantime and in between time, I can still try and entertain you. (I know it isn't that great. Sorry.)

1. What song do you sing in the shower?
My ipod player is in our bathroom to make showering that much more fun. I usually listen to the playlist of my 2009 yearly cd. What is on it, you might ask? Well, you will just have to wait until December to find out. (Or ask Jenny, she already kinda knows.)

2. What's your best karaoke number?
Last time Jenny and I sang Karaoke, it was to "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun"

3. Favorite Christmas/Holiday song?
Bah Humbug. Christmas music :(

4. Best song for getting psyched up?
Are you kidding me? "You Make My Dreams Come True"--Hall and Oates

5. Best melancholy, rainy day mood song?
"Something Is Wrong"--Phantom Planet

6. What song did/will you dance to at your wedding?
We're not dancing. But let's imagine for one minute that I went crazy and decided to have a dance. How about "For Once In My Life"--Michael Buble

7. Best breakup song?
Ha ha! "Which To Bury, Us Or The Hatchet"--Relient K

8. What song takes you back to High School?
Oh my! "Crush"--Jennifer Paige

9. Do you sing a certain song to your kids?
Just because my Grandma no longer knows she ever sang it to us.

10. What song makes you cry?
Why would I ever cry over a song?

11. What song do you want played at your funeral?
"In My Life"--The Beatles

12. What song do you wish would start playing when you walked in a room?
"Short Skirt, Long Jacket"--Cake

13. What's a song you know every word to by heart?
There are too many to count.

14. What was the first 8-track/cassette tape/CD that you owned?
Tape--Sharon, Lois and Bram CD--Mariah Carey

My Personal Rose Ceremony

Hey! Happy Friday to you all!

Alright. Who is excited for the story I am about to tell? (I am hoping that you all raised your hand.)

"and we begin..." (Thanks PK)

So Tuesday night I had a date of sorts. This is only blog worthy because of the lack of real one on one dating that occurs these days.

First of all I should tell you that this date was with the lovingly nicknamed 'Mormon Bachelor'. The one guy in our ward that is following Mr. Gary's "date 'em all" philosophy. This guy is making a point to date all of the girls in our ward, and since developing this plan in January, has asked out most of our Relief Society.

So finally my name came up on the list and Mr. Bachelor asked me on an Insti -Date, a concept I came up with a few months ago to help increase institute attendance. Essentially a date to institute, it's cheap, it's easy and people get to institute. (Sadly the guys in our ward haven't really embraced it as much as I had hoped. C'est la vie.)

So with my scriptures in hand, my date picked me up for the first institute class of the summer semester. And you know what, it wasn't that bad. The class was fine. The Dairy Queen hot chocolate drinkable (Who knew Dairy Queen had hot chocolate?) Really there wasn't a lack of conversation. All in all the whole night was a thumbs sideways.

But...

It seemed that we really had nothing in common. He discussed his hatred of city life, and his one day dream to live in a secluded cabin, told me that he didn't quite get the purpose of ipods, the internet or really technology in general, and sadly stated that he had no interest in music of any kind.

I sweetly smiled, knowing that an afternoon at Henderson is all the outdoorsy-ness that I need in one year, or that I document most of my life online for the whole world to see, or that, most importantly, I fall asleep with my ipod every night.

Somehow unshared interests seems to be a common theme in my dating life. While I am not looking for a clone of myself, shouldn't I be looking for someone who has some of the same interests as me? Or does it really matter?

Does it even matter anymore if someone knows who The Beatles are, or not? (Heaven forbid!)

And we all wonder why I am single. (Sorry, this post was suppose to be funnier.)

Well in any regards, it doesn't really matter with Mr. Bachelor. He is spending his summer deep in the wilderness with limited power and running water, far away from the internet. (But then again, he just got on Facebook last week.)

Keep your fingers crossed for something good to come around.

Have a great weekend. Funny how summer snuck up on all of us so fast.

Enough Strawberry Banana Juice To Last Us A While

Hello Kitties!

Sorry this post might be a little rambley jambley. Sorry. Just go with me. There are a variety of topics, and sadly none of them are really that connected. I am too lazy to think up clever segues.

First of all is a movie review. Two weeks ago. Yes, two long weeks ago, Jenny and I (along with every other tween in town) excitedly went to see 17 Again.

I have no shame in admitting that Zac Efron is definitely a thumbs up in my book. Sure, when I saw the first High School Musical I thought the hair was a little lame, but then I saw this, and well, come on!

The actually story of 17 Again is nothing that is too original. It's like Big, in reverse. But really there is not much wrong with this light-hearted flick. And bonus for you guys out there, it isn't so super girly, so even you might like it.

Zac definitely makes this movie viewable. At one point in the movie, there was an audible gasp in our theatre just from Zac's appearance on screen. I can say that thankfully Zac has joined the ranks of some of our other movie crushes, like Leonardo DiCaprio, Freddie Prinze Jr and Johnny Depp.

Three Good Things About This Movie:
1) Zac Efron in the blue sweater
2) Zac Efron tearing up. (Almost broke my stone heart.)
3) Zac Efron in the plaid shirt (Testify ladies!)

Zac Efron makes up for any bad that might be in this movie. So if you are a looking for a fun kick off to your summer, why not give 17 Again a try.

Alright new topic. Last weekend I successfully hosted a surprise birthday party for my dear Jenny. I spent most of last week arranging the logistics of the party, and praying that first, Jenny wouldn't find out, and secondly that she would be happy with a large birthday party. Jenny had spent the week before telling me about how she wanted to celebrate her birthday with a little peace and quiet. (Which gratefully the party was not.)

Thankfully everything went as planned, and our eclectic group of friends, as well as the birthday girl, had a funny night.

The party made me miss our Weekday Eves of yesteryear. Sadly with the summer quickly approaching, I am more than nostalgic for the old tyme days. Something I know we can't really recreate.

Moving on. Well I am pretty sure that I was born a good forty years too late. While I love living in the 2000s (Do we have name for this decade yet?), I have only recently realized how sweet it was in the 1960s.

With some free time on our hands and no new TV on DVD to watch, Jenny and I got the first season of the Emmy winning series, Mad Men. Taking place in a New York ad agency in the early 1960s,this drama filled series had Jenny and I hooked from the first episode. The music, clothes, excessive amounts of smoking and drinking make this show unlike anything else on TV. Seriously. Seriously. Seriously. If you are looking for something new and a little different, give Mad Men a gander.

Jenny and I are waiting not so patiently for Season Two to come out on DVD, and excitedly for Season Three to start again later this summer.

My last topic of conversation, I have decided, will have to wait for it own post. It is that good. I am hoping to get it out before the end of the week. Give me a poke or two if my deadline is drawing near. (It's not that great of a story, but the best one I've got these days.)

Thanks to all of you for your continued love and support. I've been lucky enough to hang out with so many of you in person the last couple of weeks! (Sadly though, you already knew all of my recent stories.)

You know the line; Keep doing what you're doing.

As Always,
